Scholio
Research, distilled. New papers ranked for you, in an inbox you can actually finish.
Scholio is a free Android app for researchers, students and anyone who follows scientific literature. It pulls new papers from open scholarly indexes, ranks them against the topics you care about, and gives you a short inbox to triage instead of an endless feed. You can read the paper, keep notes and highlights, get a plain-language summary, and export citations when you write.
What Scholio does
A feed ranked for you
Pick topics, keywords and venues. Scholio ranks new papers against them and shows why each one ranked where it did. Muted topics stay out.
An inbox you can clear
Mark papers read, favourite or saved for later. Skipped papers leave. The inbox gets to zero.
Read and annotate
Open the PDF in the app, highlight passages, write notes, and pick up where you left off.
Summaries
Short summaries and explanations of a paper's abstract, generated on your device or with an AI provider you choose.
Open access first
Scholio finds legal open-access copies and can show only papers you can read for free. For paywalled work, it helps you email the author.
Citations and export
Copy citations as BibTeX, RIS, APA or IEEE. Export whole lists with your notes, and import from BibTeX or RIS.
Collections and sharing
Group papers into collections and share a read-only link to a collection if you want to.
Sync and backup
Sign in to sync your library across devices, or stay offline and use file backup and restore.
Where the papers come from
Scholio reads public metadata from arXiv, Semantic Scholar, Crossref, OpenAlex, Unpaywall and ORCID. Scholio does not host papers. Links open the publisher's or repository's own copy.
